Saksey’s
At the end of an unsuspecting alley, below a boisterous sports bar, lies Detroit’s Most Intimate Room. Born from the intersection of indulgence, mischief, charm, and sophistication- Saksey’s is an undeniable invitation to immerse oneself within a seamless blend of opulence and warmth. The world above ceases to exist within this intimate space where elevated hospitality is bolstered by the refined use of glossy woods, sumptuous velvets, dreamy lighting, and adventurous patterns. Service is luxe but playful to deliver alluring energy within this moody and rich atmosphere.
The alley entry was designed as purposefully ordinary to bolster the surprise felt after traveling through hollow metal doors and an unassuming cinder block stairway. The guest is greeted by an alluring maximalist treatment- mixed patterns, dreamy lighting, and heavy drape to create an immediate indication of what to expect in the main space while also tying to the nostalgic narrative woven into every detail of Saksey’s. The main bar has a moody and rich atmosphere supported by sumptuous velvets, adventurous patterns, and mirrored ceilings. The entire perimeter is clad with lacquer to reinforce the ever present tie to the sixties. Seating was designed to encourage outgoing, free spirited connection, but flexible enough to also allow for intimate seatings when required.
