Reflections On A Decade Of Design
Officially launching as a company in 2013, Pophouse, formerly known as dPOP, began work within the Rocket Mortgage Family of Companies Detroit campus. We quickly diversified our clientele and work across the country and have grown as a full-service interior design firm with experience in projects such as workplace, hospitality, retail, and multi-family. Since 2013, our team of 26 designers, administrators, and leaders, have been at the center of the revitalization of Detroit and, as a result, have deep experience in bringing new life to existing architecture. Our mission, to positively impact people through informed, curated, and human-centric design, gives our work purpose and meaning.
Our studio is built upon an interdisciplinary approach with innovation and creativity at the forefront of all we do. Our team defines who we are, and the diverse experience and perspectives drive a unique synergy for our work and dynamics. We’ve gathered inputs from the team about why this milestone is so meaningful to them, and the responses were vast and reminded us how far we have come:

While it’s difficult to boil down a decade of work into a few moments, there have been some achievements that have stood out. Tied for first place is our Interior Design Magazine cover and our new Pophouse HQ. Let’s take a closer look at these milestones.
Rock Ventures HQ and Rocket Mortgage Marketing were both named Best of Year Projects by Interior Design Magazine, with our Central Hub mosaic gracing the cover of the April 2022 issue. Symbolizing the important role this team plays in uniting the entire family of companies, the space was intentionally selected to emphasize the support this team provides while encouraging interactions. The tile installation at the base of the stairway was designed by Faile, hand-placed by our team, and incorporates words that align with the ethos of the company.
Situated within the historic David Stott Building in Detroit’s Capitol Park, this reimagined space for our team promotes engagement and connection through an interconnected series of gathering space with both individual and shared functionality. We cannot wait to welcome our team, clients, and community in to foster meaningful collaboration and partnerships to propel our work and the city of Detroit forward.
