Saksey’s harkens back to a beloved Gilbert family establishment. At the height of the 60’s, the supper club invited Detroit’s socialites to enjoy a martini (or two, or three) with live musical entertainment. The experience celebrated freedom, exploration, and indulgence. Our elevated interpretation of this experience gives all of the energy and none of the stuffiness that can come with the traditional speakeasy. The space provides a night to remember, or possibly forget.

Saksey’s will live in 1550 Woodward, in the heart of Detroit’s central business district. Walking through the alley and down a flight of stairs adds to the feeling of anticipation and exclusivity. As you enter the space, deep luxurious textures and the smell of aged leather pull you into the experience. Opulent materials such as rare marble and a fully lacquered bar call back to the maximalism of the 60’s. A roaring brass band of patterns, finishes, and textures create a complex composition that delights the senses.

The Saksey’s brand is designed by Supper, a multidisciplinary creative studio based in Detroit and New York City. Saksey’s visually compelling and functionally relevant brand identity pays homage to its roots while embracing the demands of the present. The revamped visual identity represents a contemporary progression rooted in the brand’s 1960’s origins. Drawing inspiration from the design ethos of the physical space, the brand seamlessly integrates elements from archival assets. Staying tied to Detroit’s Most Intimate Room ensures a connection to its rich history while being thoughtfully tailored to cater to contemporary design. The brand embodies a perfect blend of tradition and modernity.
