Pophouse X Humble Design: Day of Service
It’s the time of the year again in which Pophouse annually joins forces with Humble Design, a remarkable non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through the power of thoughtfully curated home interiors. In a world where homelessness remains a pressing issue, particularly in cities like Detroit, this partnership stands as a beacon of hope, actively working to provide newfound stability and comfort to individuals, families, and veterans transitioning out of homelessness. According to The Detroit Free Press, there are more than 1,500 homeless individuals both on the streets and in shelters within Detroit, with this estimate being a generous understatement. Those who are able to secure affordable housing oftentimes walk into the daunting task of needing to purchase furniture and appliances to truly make their house a home for their family. This collaborative effort not only furnishes homes but also fosters a sense of dignity and belonging, illustrating the profound impact that compassionate design can have on rebuilding lives and communities.
Joined by the incredible team at Humble Design Detroit, we were able to transform not just a house, but a home for a single mom and her three children. Every detail, from the wall color to the furniture placement, was carefully considered to reflect the family members’ preferences and needs. This isn’t just about decorating; it’s about making a meaningful connection with the family we are all serving. Humble Design took the time to learn about their likes, dislikes, and interests, ensuring that every aspect of their home resonated with their unique personalities.
As a company rooted in Detroit, we are passionate about contributing to the revitalization of our city. Whether through our design skills, our time, or our resources, we are always seeking opportunities to give back and support organizations like Humble Design in their mission. Their mission resonates deeply with ours at Pophouse, where we believe that purposeful design positively impacts people’s lives.
Participating in this Day of Service is one of the most fulfilling parts of our year as a team. Through the services provided by Built for Zero and Humble Design, over 130,000 people have been housed since 2015. That feat would not be possible without each individual community stepping up to support one another. It’s not just about furnishing houses; it’s about filling hearts with hope and creating a brighter future for those in need. We all have the power to make a positive impact in our communities. It’s moments like these that remind us of the true impact of our work and inspire us to continue giving back to our Detroit community.
